Sumy region is one of the leaders in the cultivation of technical hemp. The share of hemp sown areas in Sumy region is 22.2% of the total area under this crop in Ukraine. In 2021, there was one stationary and one mobile hemp fiber processing line in the region. Only one enterprise in the region is engaged in secondary processing of hemp raw materials - Sumykamvol LLC (Sumy).
Given the implementation of the project "Creation of agro-tourist cluster" Slobozhanske hemp "- a business card and one of the" magnets "of Sumy and Ukraine", the region needs to build facilities for primary and secondary processing of hemp.

The possible location of such facilities is the Sumy Industrial Park (Centrolit plant area) and the Patriot Industrial Park (the territory of Sumykamvol LLC).
In order to consider potential areas for the construction of primary and secondary processing of hemp raw materials in the region on October 27, 2021, the head of the Sumy Regional State Administration Dmytro Zhyvytskyi paid a working visit to Sumykamvol LLC and Sumy Industrial Park.
 
Representatives of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of Sumy Regional State Administration, Department of Economic Development and Trade of Sumy Regional State Administration, Sumy City Council, scientists of Sumy National Agrarian University, Institute of Agriculture of the Northeast of NAAS of Ukraine, Institute of  Bast Cultures also took part in the working trip.
he participants of the event discussed further steps to establish an enterprise for primary and secondary processing of hemp raw materials in the region.
